Last week our fabulous weather people predicted the winter storm of the century to hit Western New York. Now you gotta know that when they predict such a thing, get everyone all up in tizzy, and close schools before the first flake flies, well, we'll probably get bupkus. And that's pretty much what we got.
A big snowstorm is one of my most favourite things, and on top of that make it a surprise and I'm even giddier. Oh to wake up this morning to many inches of fresh new snow....my backyard is like a storybook today.
Of course the nice thing is that I have nowhere to be but right here. I am celebrating the completion of a big project I had been working on for weeks (it was sent to the printer yesterday!) and now I am working on a brand new big project and a few other ongoing ones...plus my online poetry workshop that begins in a couple of weeks. And I'm trying to fit in an hour a day just for my own personal artwork. It's been so nice to be doing what I'm doing; I am pleased as punch. :) Money isn't exactly piling up around me, in fact it's been pretty absent, but it will come...we're getting by just fine.
My big news this week is that I got a fairly permanent contract job for an international company based right here in my hometown. In the creative marketing/graphics communications department. Yep! Part-time work on an as needed basis. Just feels like a warm security blanket right about now.
I'm also trying to get my own business Web site finished up. I have some pretty cool stuff planned for that, at least I think they're cool. Then again I also think a new box of crayons is cool, and writing on an old typewriter, and coffee made in my gramma's Corningware percolator, and even big snowstorms...and not everyone shares my appreciations for things like that. So who knows what's in store, if it will fly or dive. But I'm loving it. :)
Happy snowy day everyone. Time to get to work.
